Apple Recipes to Share With Friends

We would like to share some of our favorite apple recipes with you that have been tested time and time again. Let us know which you like best, or share your own recipe with us!

Betty’s Apple Cinnamon Cake

2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
2 eggs
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups chopped apples
1/4 cup nuts

Beat eggs, oil and vanilla: add sifted dry ingredients. Add apples and nuts.

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix and put on top of apple batter. Bake in greased 9×13″ pan for 35-45 min. at 350°.

Creamy Apple Squares

1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1/2 cup soft butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 apples, thinly sliced
1 cup sour cream
1 egg

Combine first two ingredients: mix until crumbly. Reserve 2/3 cup for topping, add brown sugar and cinnamon to reserve topping mix. Mix well, set aside. Press remaining mixture onto bottom of ungreased 9×13″ pan. Arrange apple slices over base. Blend sour cream and egg, spread evenly over apples. Sprinkle reserve topping mixture over all. Bake at 350° for 25-30 min. or until topping is golden brown and bubbly.

Apple Bars

1 3/4 cups chopped or shredded apples (about 2)
1 cup sugar

Mix and let stand 10 min. Add 1 egg beaten and 1/2 cup melted butter.

Sift together and add;
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
dash of nutmeg, and cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts.

Pour into ungreased 9×13″ pan. Bake at 350° for 20 min. Glaze while warm with a powdered sugar frosting.

Microwave Applesauce

8 apples (2 pounds). Peel and slice.
2 Tbs. water or cider in Pyrex bowl with cover.

Microwave on High about 8-10 min.

Add sugar to taste, about 1/2 cup sugar.

Stove-Top Applesauce

Peel and slice 8 apples. Place in covered sauce pan.

Add 2 Tbs. water or cider and bring to a boil, simmer until apples are tender.

Add sugar to taste, about 1/2 cup sugar.

Betty’s Waldorf Salad

3 cups diced apples (unpared)
1 cup diced celery
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans
1/2 cup Miracle Whip

Toss all ingredients together.

Applesauce Brownies

1/4 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup applesauce
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup chopped nuts

Cream margarine and sugar, add egg, applesauce, and vanilla. Add rest of ingredients. Pour into greased 9×9″ pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 min.

Applesauce Nutcake

1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 cups applesauce
3 eggs
1 pkg. (3 3/4 oz.) vanilla instant pudding and piefilling

Mix all ingredients in bowl. Pour into ungreased 9×13″ pan. Bake at 350° for 35 min. Cool. Store in refrigerator.

Cider Slush

1 large glass cider
2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Stir to blend or mix in blender.
